Van Nelle iziCompany has placed the Dell Poweredge servers in a i3d suite at the SmartDC “Dataport of Rotterdam” in Rotterdam.

Network

SmartDC is located at the industrial national monument Van Nelle in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. SmartDC has over 12 megawatt available on the 23 kV power network. The complete datacenter is setup for high density hosting with 32 AMP 230V AC racks. Two power feeds are available per rack and the datacenter is equipped with both UPS and generator equipment. Each datacenter suite contains 34 racks with both cold and warm corridors enclosed.

For the routing i3d uses the following equipment:

1x Juniper M160
4x Juniper M40
1x Juniper M10
1x Juniper M5
2x Foundry Netiron
4001x Foundry Netiron 800

The switching is done on Foundry NetIron 400s and 800s jetcore switches. These switches are set-up in a full mesh so if there might occur a power glitch to one of the switches, the data-traffic will still continue. The complete (external) internet traffic our network can handle on this moment lies around 10.000 Mbit.

The coreswitches of i3d are a HP Procurve 5304xl-32g chassis-based switch and a HP Procurve 4200vl-48g chassis-based switch. These switches both contain 48 gigabit UTP ports and 6 gigabit Fiber ports. From these switches all racks are supplied with redundant gigabit uplinks.
